In 1992, the State of Florida learned a valuable lesson from the destruction caused by Hurricane Andrew. If a garage door fails, high speed winds can enter the home and blow out the doors, windows and even the roof. We need to be more prepared.
Now Pinellas and Pasco Counties require hurricane ready garage doors to be installed in all new and existing homes and businesses. Every door we sell is windloaded to atleast 130 MPH windspeeds which meet or exceed the Florida Building Code for our area.
We sell two types of hurricane packages on our doors. The first is ready at all times because the reinforcements are right on the door.
The second type requires the homeowner to hook up a reinforcement post when the hurricane is coming. This system sustains even high winds than are required by the local counties.

People participating in the My Safe Florida Home Program or those who wish to apply for insurance credits need to go with impact -rated garage doors. Many of these doors require a post to be installed on two car wide garage doors (over 12 feet wide).
For those customers who already have a hurricane - ready door, but would like some extra protection, we can add a post to your existing hurricane package.
